The new normal: online learning

It’s been three months since news regarding the lockdown started. Everything and everyone is affected by the pandemic. Especially the children, over 300 million students are facing challenges and disruption by the spread of coronavirus. But growth doesn’t stop us. Even if the person stands still, there’s growth. Change is inevitable, but it should not stop us from keep going.

Online learning is one of the helping hands for growth and learning. People choose online learning than to go outside after minutes and hours of travel and get exhaustion instead of the focus. Online learning is a flexible approach for most of the people around the world. At least it is what taught to embrace, something like online learning exists during this still distant illness. Students are able to cover the curriculum with the help of live and recorded sessions provided by school and teachers, students are free to choose according to their niche interest, this is more of a student-led setup. It can become a forever set up and this is what seemed impossible before the pandemic and here we are with the new wave of studying- becoming a new normal.

Students around the world are able to achieve their courses on time, but some regions are still worried about their kids if they will ever get the full speed internets and laptops and gadgets. This leads to the uneven quality of education among them. The digital divide. Wealthier people can afford everything where poor families are still figuring it out. But here’s the good news, everything has a beginning and beginnings gives you the best challenges, hence the online learning doesn’t seem a fail.

Pandemic is the sign that we can still see huge changes around us whether through weather or other pandemics, but this should not stop us from falling behind the race. From this period of online learning, which is helpful for every generation and every person on this earth with a huge amount of data floating on the internet, the need is to make it a more flexible and easily accessible high-quality free education. We can’t afford millions of people falling behind just because of the uneven divide and challenges.

Now, what needs to be changed?

It’s known that children and teachers are facing new challenges to be more tech-friendly and to be more flexible. It is seen that teacher needs assistance and right setup for producing good quality lectures. Though teachers and students were much interactive and work as a collaboration to work on each other’s skills, online learning is keeping a distance from collaborating on new things. Therefore students also need some extra help or outside help to learn the subjects they don’t have interests in. For example: if a kid is facing difficulties in math, he would leave it and focus on other subjects as it is the more student-led type and parents sometimes have no idea what a kid is going through and what challenges he has to cover up and kids don’t know what help and needs to be asked from others!

Therefore, online learning needs a much flexible environment to be collaborative and interactive as it was. There are plenty of apps and websites which help students with good quality learning time.

Else if you ask kids these what is it like to learn online, they will say the best part is- food.
