What People Think Of #Feminism? – Part 1

Are we really into the ‘F’ word? there’s so much confusion among people to be a ‘FEMINIST’ or not? Last day I ran a poll on Instagram asking people if they are feminist or not, and results showed that most of them are not. There can be many reasons behind it, Opinions or maybe false information. I was expecting that most of the people will poll for feminism, but it’s okay people are learning and will got to know, so,

I believe there are five critical reasons behind this:

1.  Feminism has been associated with strong, forceful and angry women, and our society continues to punishes forceful women.  (So much recent data and research has proved this.)

2. Many people fear that feminism will mean that men will eventually lose out – of power, influence, impact, authority, and control, and economic opportunities.

3. Many people believe that feminists want to control the world and put men down.

4. Many people fear that feminism will overturn time-honored traditions, religious beliefs and established gender roles, and that feels scary and wrong.

5. Many people fear that feminism will bring about negative shifts in relationships, marriage, society, culture, power and authority dynamics, and in business, job and economic opportunities if and when women are on an equal footing with men.

What do you think of feminism? Are you a feminist?

  1. You hit the nail on the head in a few of your past posts; the ones about Emma Watson’s speech and Misandrists.

The movement is quite noble and everyone should be equal. The trouble is there’s a small but very loud minority of misandrists that have done their level best to hijack the feminist movement. The irony is that they’re often taking on some of the stereotypical worst aspects of “masculinity” to fight it. They attack women who are stay at home moms, for example. Another silly example I blogged about was the TV show Supergirl. The producer and lead actress did away with Supergirl’s skirt and gave her costume “pants” like Superman instead. They felt this was soooo enlightened and empowering.

Feminism isn’t supposed to be about dressing like a man to be empowered. Feminism is supposed to be about the idea that a woman should be seen as an equal and valued for what she does regardless of her role or how she dresses. It’s actions and displayed character that should and ultimately do define anyone.

    • Well said, we need more pople like you in this world. More power to you.❤Understanding feminism, even feminism exists because people are afraid to act normal, i mean how normal is it to treat everybody equal and easy instead of living in superstitous and social pressures, yet so difficult to put this thing into their brains. Words and phrases will exist to remind, until people start behaving like a human. And that supergirl show, i couldn’t agree more with you. So true.
